The key to the diagnosis may serve as a sign of how repeatable attacks. Usually the patient can not remember what happened during the attack.

The main reason for establishing the diagnosis is the low concentration of glucose in the blood during the attack or immediately after it. If in doubt, consult with a specialist (for further information see: Marks, Rose 1965; Lishman 1987).
