Important role in explaining the relationship of psychosomatic disorders and stress plays a model of frustration, or painful feelings of failure, accompanied by intense negative emotions. Physiological effects of these same emotional outbursts, especially if repeated frustration repeatedly lead to psychosomatic disorders. Frustration can be caused by a wide variety of situations in which there is a kind of momentary internal conflict - desired and the actual discrepancy. Thus, it is kind of synonymous with emotional stress, more precisely, one of its constituent psychological mechanisms.

In a normal adult has a sufficiently high frustration tolerance, allowing it to adapt to the stresses of everyday life. However, the containment barrier is not always reliable. He ceases to perform its protective role when external factors frustrating overly intense or that happens much more often when frustration tolerance decreases. The latter usually occurs due to purely internal, psychological reasons. For example, when prevail intrapunitivny, samoobvinitelny style response to frustration. Or when a person suffers from low self-esteem and depression caused by the activation of irrational beliefs, especially those related to the settings of duty and comparing yourself with others (A. Ellis).

Physiologically appearance of frustration as extremely uncomfortable emotional state is due to the position of the biological theory of emotions (P. K.Anohin) as a reaction to the discrepancy between the image and the image of the desired result within the existing reality in the brain of a universal mechanism of purposeful behavior, scheduling mechanism solutions and stepping control of their implementation - so-called acceptor action. From this perspective, based on a state of frustration is a discrepancy, left hemisphere and right hemisphere incongruence models of reality, which are reflected in its different variants: the desired (left hemisphere dreams and plans) and actual (right hemisphere reflected prosaic reality of life).

Practically important conclusion to be drawn from this model - that is necessary to relieve the frustrations of such smoothing visual interhemispheric conflict, a kind of harmonization of inter-hemispheric relations. This is what is achieved through a variety of other corrective methods, especially body-oriented, as a kind of balancing functional asymmetry of the hemispheres.
