His dream - to engage in a favorite subject - came true when he entered the Leningrad State University in the Department of Psychology.

While on the faculty worked and lectured many famous psychologists, including AN Leontiev, BM Warm and BG Ananev. During his studies at the University of BF Lomov very actively engaged in scientific work, already at that time began to go out of his first film. Collecting data from various studies, theoretical development psychologists, he reduced them to one conclusion. Already in his student years infancy systems principle as a basic tool of psychological knowledge in general, this approach was formed later.

At the end of the 1950s. BF Scrap interested in the problems of human existence in the production sphere of life. BG Ananev suggested he try to apply psychological laws to labor practices of people. Young scientist tackled this problem and successfully developed several ways to introduce the theoretical foundations of psychology in social and labor practices. His book, "Man and machine: essays engineering psychology," which was released in 1966, sold in great quantities and used by many managers, production workers. BF Scrap it offered several methods to increase productivity, based on psychological laws. In addition, he expressed the need to maintain the company a friendly and intimate atmosphere as the conditions of preservation of the health of workers and humane mindset.

Thanks to his hard work and outstanding abilities BF Scrap soon became one of the leading experts in the field of engineering psychology. In 1964 and 1967. were held in Moscow All-Union forums on this issue, and BF Scrap them was the organizer and leader.

BF Scrap took a direct part in the creation of the Institute of Psychology in Moscow, and January 1, 1972 headed it. Later at the institute was founded laboratory in which to conduct empirical research, thus, the institute developed friendly theoretical and applied problems. Same central task was the creation of the institute in the country of psychological services, as well as training of young professionals in the field of psychology.

BF Scrap was not only a scientist but also a gifted teacher. His colleagues and students talked about the kind of "Lomovskaya field of attraction", formed by his remarkable personal qualities in this "field" were raised by many scholars, moreover, failed to attract B.F Lomov to develop psychological problems many prominent specialists from other fields knowledge.

In 1975, in the journal "Psychological Issues" BF Scrap published his article "On the systematic approach in psychology." Justifying a systematic approach, it proceeded from the fact that mental phenomena are included in the universal interconnection processes of the material world and express their unique unity of all living organisms Mental acts as a reflection of reality and attitude to it as natural and social, as a conscious and unconscious. Psyche, by BF Lomov - is multidimensional, hierarchically organized, dynamic whole, ie it acts as a system. Core systems approach, according to BF Lomov, consists of six basic principles.

1) Mental phenomena are perceived researcher from several angles: as some quality unit, the internal condition of the relationship and interaction with the environment of the object as a set of qualities acquired by the individual, and as a result of the activity of micro organism. Complete description of the phenomenon involves a combination of research plans.

2) Mental phenomena are multidimensional, and therefore they should be treated in different measures. If the approach to their study on the one hand, the phenomenon will never be completely investigated.

3) The system consists of psychic phenomena at many levels, the psyche as a whole is divided into cognitive, communicative, regulatory, each of which is also divided into levels.

4) According to BF Lomov, Property Rights organized into a coherent whole, in its structure resembles a pyramid on top of the basic mental properties are at the base - reveal their properties, and the edges represent different categories of properties. Thus, when considering the system must take into account the totality of the properties of various orders.

5) Holistic knowledge of mental phenomena involves taking into account the multiplicity of its determinants. These include causation, general and specific preconditions of psychic phenomena, mediating links, as well as internal and external factors. The same determinants may under some conditions act as a prerequisite, and the other - as, for example, the mediating factor or level.

6) Mental phenomena must be studied in their dynamics and development. Integrity and differentiation of mental phenomena arise formed or destroyed in the course of development of the individual, which acts as polisistemny process. Thus, the mental development of the individual can be represented as a constant movement, the emergence, formation and transformation of the basic properties and qualities.

All these principles imply polisistemny human existence and integrality of his mental properties. This idea is decisive for a systematic approach B.F.Lomova. December 23, 1976 BF Scrap was elected a member of the Academy of Sciences in the department of philosophy and law.

In 1984 the scientist published his book "The methodological and theoretical problems of psychology." He saw the main task of psychology in studying the nature of the psyche, its mechanisms and laws applicable in this environment. Psychological laws, in his opinion, are different levels of mental disclose its various dimensions.
